For investigating influence of different guide vane numbers on hydraulic characteristics of vertical oblique flow pump, we conduct comparative study on model pump with specific speed of 542. 3 using bidirectional FSI model and single fluid domain model. The results indicate that the bidirectional FSI model is more appropriate to simulate the vertical oblique flow pump as it can reflect the inner flow field more accurately. The pump hydraulic loss increases with the increase of the guide vane num-ber. The pump hydraulic loss increases and is up to 15. 20% of the total water lift when the guide vane number is increased to 7;the hydraulic loss of pump reaches the lowest when the guide vane number is reduced to 3, accounting for only 3. 34% of the total water lift, and the exit velocity distribution of guide vane and static pressure at the guide vane surface are rational in this case.
