Research progress on flood disaster remote sensing monitoring and assessment based on CiteSpace
Due to the advantages of wide data coverage, short repetition period, and strong data timeliness, remote sensing tech-nology has played a crucial role in flood disaster monitoring and risk assessment.Numerous researchers have used remote sensing techniques to conduct risk analysis or loss assessment for flood disasters and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction. To gain a deeper insight into current research hotspots and trends in flood disaster remote sensing monitoring and assessment,we used CiteSpace to conduct a bibliometric analysis using the 1 901 literatures from WOS and CNKI in this field from 2001 to 2021 from the aspects of number of published papers, authors, major publishing organizations and keywords. The research findings indicated:① The total number of research papers applying remote sensing technology to flood monitoring and assessment has shown a signif-icant increasing trend over time, with the number of English literature increasing more prominently than that of Chinese literature.Since 2018,Chinese scholars have published more papers in foreign journals than in Chinese journals.②In the field of flood dis-asters remote sensing monitoring and assessment research, papers published by Chinese scholars account for 17.72%of all papers published worldwide, with the Chinese Academy of Sciences ranking first among research institutions with 54 published papers. The level of international collaboration among Chinese scholars is 31.9%,indicating a high level of international cooperation;however, there is still room for improvement in terms of academic influence and the international cooperation ratio.③Research a-chievements by scholars from regions such as Europe,America, and South Asia have received considerable attention, and highly cited paper topics have gradually shifted from risk analysis and assessment to machine learning, urban flooding, and flood resili-ence.④ Land cover classification, water body extraction, dynamic monitoring, and risk assessment are key research topics that have long been the focus of scholars both domestically and internationally.Urban flooding, flood resilience and machine learning are emerging as new research hotspots. The development of machine learning and deep learning technologies based on cloud com-puting will hold promising new opportunities for flood disaster remote sensing monitoring, assessment and risk analysis.
