Decoupling relationship between agricultural water consumption and agricultural economic development in Yangtze River Economic Belt
Clarifying the decoupling relationship between agricultural water consumption and agricultural economic development in Yangtze River Economic Belt is of great significance to improving the utilization efficiency of water resources and implementing the"water saving priority"policy.Based on the relevant statistical data of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2003 to 2021,the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of water resources was revealed, and then the Tapio decoupling model was ap-plied to reveal the decoupling relationship for empirical analysis in 11 provinces and municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The results showed that agricultural water supply was sufficient on the whole. However, there was a spatial imbalance between agricultural water supply and demand due to the uneven spatial distribution of water resources. There were significant differences in agricultural water efficiency in the 11 provinces and municipalities. On the one hand, the total agricultural water consumption and agricultural economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt have always been in decoupling states, and they were in more ideal status of weak decoupling or strong decoupling in most of the time.On the other hand, the relationship between agri-cultural water consumption and agricultural economic development in each province were also in a relatively ideal status of weak decoupling or strong decoupling in most periods of time. The results can provide a reference for the efficient use of agricultural wa-ter resources and the formulation of related policies in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
