Amount of the Intercepted Sediment by the Warping Dams in the Regions Above Tongguan in the Yellow River Basin
Since 2000,there′s a significant reduction of sediment in the Yellow River. In order to reveal the amount of the intercepted sediment by warping dams in the Yellow River,we calculated the actual intercepted sediment of current warping dams in recent years by using a typical projec-tion method,which was based on the data of China Census for Water,flood statistics of warping dams,annual data of warping dams in each prov-ince and measured data of the typical key dams and dams system of pilot small watersheds. The result shows that there are 5467 key dams and ap-proximately 50,350 of small and medium-sized dams in the region above Tongguan in the Loess Plateau as of 2011,also there is 0. 123 billion ton of sediment which has been captured annually by current warping dams during the period of 2007 ~ 2013,which is much less than that of during the period of 1970s ~ 1990s.
