Effect of Different Vegetation Restoration Patterns on Soil Physical and Chemical Properties
In order to understand the effect of different vegetation restoration patterns on soil physical and chemical properties, the main soil physical and chemical properties (water content, organic matter, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and pH value)of three kinds of different vegetation restoration patterns (spruce forest, poplar forest and mixed forest)and different recovery stages of Dingxi Chankou forestry experi-mental farm from October 2011 to September 2012 were studied. The results show that soil water content shows the succession of mixed forest> poplar forest > spruce forest, the succession of organic matter, total nitrogen and total phosphorus content is mixed forest > spruce forest> poplar forest, but pH value shows the succession of poplar forest > spruce forest > mixed forest. The soil water content of spruce forest and mixed forest shows the trend of first increasing and then decreasing with prolonging of restoration years, the maximum value of soil water content appears in 30a forest, however, that of poplar forest gradually increases. The organic matter, total nitrogen and total phosphorus con-tent of mixed forest increases obviously in the first 15a,that tends to be stable after 15a,and the spruce forest increases gradually in the first 30a,showing a downward trend after 30a,but them of poplar forest shows a slightly decreasing trend. The soil pH value of three kinds of vegetation restoration patterns all shows a slightly decreasing trend with prolonging of restoration years. The results indicate the soil organic matter, total nitrogen and total phosphorus of poplar forest are at the lowest level in Dingxi Chankou forestry experimental farm, and decrease gradually with prolonging of restoration years, however, the mixed forest has strong capacity of water storage and improves greatly the soil en-vironmental quality, that is suitable for the ecological restoration in the region.
