Study on the Impact of Digital Transformation on Carbon Emissions in the Northwest Region
In order to explore the mechanism of the impact of digital transformation on carbon emissions in the northwest region and provide a reference path for the northwest region to achieve the"dual carbon"goals, based on panel data of 26 prefecture-level cities in the northwest region from 2011 to 2019,using the Spatial Durbin Model and the Spatiotemporal Geographically Weighted Regression method, this study empirically analyzed the relationship between the level of digital transformation and carbon dioxide emissions. The results show that digital transformation in each prefecture-level city in the northwest region has a significant inhibitory effect on local carbon emissions, while it has a negative spillover effect on carbon reduction in neighboring prefecture-level cities;from the overall perspective of the northwest region, digital transformation has a significant carbon reduction effect, but the carbon reduction effect shows a weakening trend during the study period.Rec-ommendations:strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure in the northwest region, further improve the level of digital transformation, promote green technology innovation, build clean energy bases, accelerate the development and utilization of clean energy, promote the trans-formation and upgrading of traditional industries, strengthen environmental regulation and collaborative governance, promote energy-saving and low-carbon technologies and equipment, and strive to achieve the"dual carbon"goals ahead of schedule.
