Analysis of the Measures for Ecological Protection and Restoration of the Yellow River Delta
The Yellow River estuary and its delta areas are facing severe ecological challenges due to the issues such as seawater intrusion, backflow, and invasion of exotic species. These problems have led to the shrinkage of wetlands and a decline in biodiversity within the terres-trial ecosystem. This article gave a brief introduction to the primary measures of ecological protection in the Yellow River delta.Main meth-ods,technologies,and engineering measures adopted for wetland restoration in this region were elaborated, especially for the species of Spar-tina alterniflora, including its status quo and issues for prevention and control. In order to overcome the main problems presented in the pro-tection and restoration of the ecosystem of the Yellow River delta, the promising approaches suggested could include improving regulatory sys-tems,strengthening coordination across sectors, applying tailored instruments, and leveraging the ecological function of sediment of the Yellow River discharged into the sea.
