Study on the Carbon Sequestration and Sink Enhancement Benefits of Afforestation in Small Watersheds in the Gullied Loess Plateaus
In order to quantitatively evaluate the carbon sequestration and sink enhancement benefits of afforestation measures for soil and wa-ter conservation and provide reference for comprehensive quantitative evaluation of soil and water conservation carbon sink benefits, the Yangjiagou small watershed in the gullied loess plateaus(a comprehensive management small watershed for soil and water conservation)and its adjacent Dongzhuanggou small watershed(an untreated check small watershed)were taken as the research area.Based on remote sensing image interpretation, the distribution and area of each land use type, especially artificial forest land, were clarified.Through field investiga-tion and sampling, the carbon storage of artificial forests in the Yangjiagou small watershed and natural grasslands in the Dongzhuanggou small watershed were calculated, and the potential carbon sink amount and carbon sink value were estimated. The results show that a)the carbon storage of artificial forest land in Yangjiagou small watershed is 10 516.10 t and the carbon density is 150.23 t/hm2,while the carbon storage of natural grassland in Dongzhuanggou small watershed is 132.10 t and the carbon density is 2.28 t/hm2;b)the afforestation for soil and water conservation in the Yangjiagou small watershed for about 70 years has increased carbon storage by about 10 356.50 t,which is e-quivalent to a carbon sink of 38 008.36 t and a carbon sink density of about 542.98 t/hm2;c)the carbon sequestration benefits per unit area of afforestation measures for soil and water conservation in the Yangjiagou small watershed are 10 000-35 000 yuan/hm2,and the potential carbon sequestration value is 685 900-2 442 000 yuan.
