Experimental Study on the Effect of Fiber Reinforced Layer Thickness on Slope Erosion Resistance
In order to determine the optimal thickness of the fiber reinforced layer, according to the fiber length of 5 mm,10 mm,20 mm and 30 mm and the reinforcement ratio(the proportion of fiber mass to dry soil mass)of 0.1%,0.2%,0.3%,0.4%and 0.5%,the wheat straw fiber reinforced soil sample was made, and the fiber length of 20 mm and the reinforcement rate of 0.3%were determined to be the opti-mal ratio of wheat straw fiber reinforced soil through disintegration test. Then, according to this ratio, the 45° slope with the thickness of the reinforced layer of wheat straw fiber was set up with the thickness of 0 cm,3 cm,6 cm and 9 cm respectively, and the simulated rainfall ero-sion test with the intensity of 12 mm/h and duration of 9 h was carried out.The results show that under the condition of heavy rainfall, the effect of wheat straw fiber reinforced layer on improving the erosion resistance of the slope is obvious, the greater the thickness of the fiber re-inforced layer, the higher the soil volume moisture content of the slope, the smaller the erosion amount, the erosion amount of the slope with the thickness of the fiber reinforced layer is 3 cm,6 cm and 9 cm,and the erosion amount of the slope with the thickness of 3 cm,6 cm and 9 cm is reduced by 53.4%,66.0%and 67.0%respectively compared with the erosion of the slope without fiber reinforcement, but the mois-ture content of the soil on the slope does not increase significantly and the erosion amount does not decrease significantly after the thickness reaches to 6 cm.Based on the comprehensive analysis of the influence of fiber reinforcement layer to the soil moisture content and corrosion resistance, overall protection effect and cost,it is concluded that the optimal thickness of wheat straw fiber reinforcement layer is 6 cm.
