Fracture Analysis of Connecting Rod of Main Steam Regulating Valve of Steam Turbine in 2×100 MW Combined Cycle Unit
During the operation of a combined cycle unit's steam turbine,an accident occurred where the main steam regulating valve suddenly closed completely.Inspection of the valve revealed that the connecting rod of the main steam regulating valve had fractured. Before the fracture, the valve had accumulated 14,000 hours of operation. To address this issue, through material and fracture analysis,as well as structural design, the cause was determined to be low cycle fatigue cracking. This provides operational maintenance experience for similar units.
