Application of polyamide-amine for low salt and low alkali dyeing of cotton fabrics
In order to reduce the amount of salt and alkali in dyeing cotton fabrics with reactive dyes,a condensa-tion product of polyamide-amine(PAMAM)was synthesized by reaction of amidation and condensation using ethylenedi-amine tetraacetic acid and diethylenetriamine as reaction monomers. The cotton fabric was modified with PAMAM,and the modified cotton fabric was dyed with low salt and low alkali by reactive yellow 3RS.The influences of modification condi-tions on dyeing K/S value and its evenness of modified cotton fabric were studied, and the modification conditions were op-timized.The structure and performance of modified cotton fabric were characterized and tested by SEM,XRD,Zeta potenti-ometer and whiteness meter. The dyeing property of modified cotton fabric was tested and compared with that of unmodi-fied cotton. The results showed that PAMAM modification did not affect the surface morphology, crystal structure and white-ness of cotton fabric, but increased the Zeta potential of cotton fiber. When the amount of modifier was 3%(omf),the modifi-cation temperature was 25℃,the modification time was 2 h,and the bath ratio was 1∶30,the modified cotton fabric had higher K/S value of dyeing, good color fastness and dyeing uniformity, and the salt and alkali content for the dyeing of mod-ified cotton fabric was only 50%of that for the traditional dyeing process of raw cotton. That PAMAM modified cotton can achieve low salt and low alkali dyeing with reactive dyes.
