Effects of New Packaging Materials on the Storage Quality of Sweet Corn
The metabolism of sweet corn is vigorous after harvest,and the quality of sweet corn is easy to deteriorate.Packaging to keeping fresh is the simplest way to solve the problem.In order to determine the effect of packaging materials on the storage quality of sweet corn,the changes of weight loss rate,sensory quality,soluble sugar content and VC content of sweet corn packaged with seven different materials at 2-5℃ were studied taking sweet corn variety of'BM380'as experimental material,and the sensory quality was taken as the most important index to judge the preservation effect of packaging materials.The results showed that among the seven packaging materials,Oule sweet corn fresh-keeping bag had the best performance in reducing the weight loss rate of sweet corn,and the weight loss rate was only 0.746%after 14 days of storage.The bio-modified atmosphere fresh-keeping bags had the longest cold chain shelf life with seven days for sweet corn in supermarkets,which was four days longer than that of control(polyethylene package),still had edible value with the sensory index of 3.01 at 16 days of storage,and followed by Oule sweet corn fresh-keeping bags,which had cold chain shelf life with six days in supermarkets and still had edible value with the sensory index of 4.33 at 13 days of storage.Fuming freshkeeping bag could maintain VC content of sweet corn,which increased significantly by 46.8%after 12 days of storage compared with that of the control,followed by the Oule sweet corn fresh-keeping bags,which significantly increased by 38.03%,11.32%after 12,15 days of storage compared with that of the control,respectively.The soluble sugar content of sweet corn packaged self-made packaging bag with thickened(antibacterial/fresh-keeping)plastic wrap decreased most slowly,and the soluble sugar content of sweet corn stored for 15 days significantly increased by 73.11%compared with that of the control,while the soluble sugar content of sweet corn packaged with Oule sweet corn fresh-keeping bags increased significantly by 49.09%compared with that of the control.It could be seen that Oule sweet corn fresh-keeping bag could slow down the weightlessness of sweet corn,bio-modified atmosphere fresh-keeping bag had a long cold chain shelf life,Fuming fresh-keeping bag could maintain the VC content of sweet corn,and self-made packaging bag with thickened(antibacterial/fresh-keeping)plastic wrap could keep the soluble sugar content of sweet corn.Considering the weight loss rate,sensory index and nutrient loss,it was recommended to choose Oule sweet corn fresh-keeping bags.
