Basing on RS & GIS Monitoring of Ecological Restoration in very Disaster-hit Area of Wenchuan Earthquake --A Case Study of Dujiangyan City
The Wenehuan earthquake on May 12th, 2008 caused serious ecological damage to disaster area especially the very quake-hit area. In this paper, a case study concerned was conducted in Dujiangyan City. In the study, by means of Remote Sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS), the change of land utilization and vegetation cover in the earthquake disaster area were monitored. The dynamic changes were analyzed quantitively to obtain the information of ecological loses and restoration after two years later. Combining DEM, the changing information was analyzed spatially to study the correlation between the disaster occurrence as well as ecological restoration and the hill slope, which provided reference and basis for restoration and reconstruction of ecological environment and ensuring the ecological safety for the disaster areas.
