Distribution Characteristics of and Health Risk Assessment on Gross Radioactivity Levels in Drinking Water Sources in Nanchong
To establish the baseline of gross radioactivity level of drinking water and assess the radiation of water bodies, the gross radioactivity level of drinking water from 9 sources in Nanchong City was monitored in 2019.Based on this, the spatial-tem-poral change trend was analyzed, the annual effective dose of internal exposure caused by radionuclides in drinking water sources was estimated and the cancer risk was evaluated. The results showed that the gross α and gross β activity concentrations were 8.4-46.8mBq/L and 37.9-168.7 mBq/L,respectively,presenting a clear spatial-temporal variation trend, which was related to natural distribution of radionuclides in water as well as physical, chemical and biological characteristics of water and surface run-off,etc.The annual effective dose of internal exposure caused by radionuclides was estimated to be 4.39 × 10-2-6.86 × 10-2 mSv/a,and the cancer risk was 2.41 × 10-6-3.77 × 10-6.The analysis indicated that the gross radioactivity level of water was generally up to standard, the estimated annual effective dose level and cancer risk were at the normal level.Such data provides a basis for response to environmental emergencies, environmental quality assessment and water quality prediction.
