Analysis of the Impact of Urban-Rural Integration on Farmers'Income in Western China
The integrated development of urban and rural areas can promote the flow of resource elements between urban and rural areas,creating a large number of opportunities for farmers to increase income,and is of great significance to achieve the goal of common prosperity.This paper constructs an evaluation index system for the development level of urban-rural integration.Based on the panel data of 12 provinces in western China from 2010 to 2022,this paper uses the entropy method to measure the level of urban-rural integration development in each province,analyzes the impact of urb-an-rural integration on farmers'income through the fixed-effect model,and introduces intermediary variables to explore the indirect impact of urban-rural integration on farmers'income by introducing intermediary variables to explore the indirect impact of urban-rural integration on farmers'income.The results show that urban-rural integrated development can not only directly promote the growth of farmers'income but also indirectly promote the increase of their income by improving agricultural labor productivity.There are significant differences in the impact of urban-rural integration development on farmers'income increase in different regions.Based on the above conclusions,to promote the increase of farmers'income,this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions:we should accelerate the integrated development of urban and rural areas in the western region;improve agricultural labor productivity;and formulate differentiated devel-opment strategies according to local conditions.
