Experimental study on shear strength of side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber
Side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber is a natural bamboo sheet re-fined,dried,carbonized and glued,and pressed into a sheet material or lumber,which is a new type of green building material.To investigate the shear resistance of side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber,four groups of sixty clear wood specimens of side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber were tested for shear strength,and the shear strengths of its parallel-to-grain chord,parallel-to-grain radial,transverse chord,and transverse radial were obtained,the failure characteristics and load-displacement curve of the clear wood specimens in different shear directions were analyzed,and the calculation formulas of the strength standard value and the strength design value of the side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber were proposed.The shear strength tests of two groups of twelve clear wood specimens of northeast larix glued timber in the parallel-to-grain chord and parallel-to-grain radial were conducted and compared with the shear strength of side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber.The results show that the side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber has excellent shear behavior,brittle failure in shear along the grain,and excellent ductility in shearn transverse.The average shear strength of side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber is 33.9%higher than that of laminated bamboo glued timber,the strength standard value and the strength design value can provide the basis for the engineering design of side-pressure laminated bamboo lumber.
