Research on the Forest Carbon Storage in Artificial Poplar Plantations in Yixiu District of Anhui Province
The forest carbon storage refers to its ability to absorb and store CO2 in plants and soil through the photosynthesis. In recent years, with the increasing population and economic development, more and more greenhouse gases have been released. At the same time, the forest carbon sinks, whose intrinsic function is to absorb and store CO2,can effectively reduce the greenhouse gase density to handle climate change.Based on the study object-poplar plantation in Yixiu District of Anhui Province,a land of 0.24 hectare is selected, which is divided into four smaller checked areas of 20 m×30 m.After measuring every poplar tree, one average standard tree is chosen from every stand for measuring the biomass in the arborlayer. Then the total arbor-layer biomass is calculated according to the transform coefficient. The results have shown that the stand diameter mainly ranges from 18 cm to 28 cm with a forest age of 10 years. The dry biomass is dominant both in the individual tree and in the stand and the carbon storage of poplar trees in the arbor layer is 196.0016 tons per hectare.
