Chodsigoa parva and Chodsigoa smithii, two new records of mammals in Chongqing
In June 2021 and July 2023,five specimens of Chodsigoa were collected from Jinfo Mountain,Chongqing. Two of them were smaller in size, with a head length of 55-58 mm,a tail length less than the head length and a flat cranium, which were consistent with the characteristics of Chodsigoa parva. The maximum likelihood(ML)tree constructed using mitochondrial Cytb gene sequences showed that the two specimens form a monophyletic clade with C.parva from Lijiang,Yunnan, with a pairwise genetic difference of 5.24%.The other three specimens were larger in size, with the tail longer than the head length, the tail end lacking tufted hair, the premaxilla was sharply narrowed, and the cranial bulge was obvious, which were congruous with Chodsigoa smithii. These three specimens clustered with C.smithii in the ML tree, and the genetic distance between them was 1.37%.Both C.parva and C.smithii were new records of mammals in Chongqing, and they were sympatric with C.hoffmanni in Jinfo Mountain.
