Optimization of Preparation Technology of Cinnamon Essential Oil Microcapsules by Response Surface Method
Cinnamon essential oil is a kind of volatile oil extracted from the bark of the cinnamon tree with aldehydes and esters as the main components, because of its susceptibility to the influence of storage conditions makes the main components volatile and leads to the weakening of antibacterial and antioxidant effects,so the use of polymers to encapsulate cinnamon essential oil to form microcapsules not only improves the stability of cinnamon essential oil,but also reduces its volatilization loss during storage. In this study, cinnamon essential oil was used as the core material and β-cyclodextrin as the wall material to prepare cinnamon essential oil microcapsules by the saturated aqueous solution method.Firstly,a mathematical model between the embedding rate and four single factors, namely, the core-to-wall ratio, the concentration of the wall material, the embedding temperature, and the embedding time, was established, and response surface optimization test was carried out on the basis of the single-factor test,so as to determine the optimal parameters of the embedding process of cinnamon essential oil microcapsules. The results showed that the best embedding effect was achieved after 1.9 h of reaction at a core-to-wall ratio of 1∶8,a wall material concentration of 29%,and an embedding temperature of 51℃,and the embedding rate reached 80.19%,which provides effective parameter support for the preparation of cinnamon essential oil microcapsules.
