Determination of 37 Fatty Acids in Formula Sheep Milk Powder by Gas Chromatography
A gas chromatography(GC)method was established to determine the content of 37 fatty acids in formula sheep milk powder.Sheep milk powder was hydrolyzed by ammonia water and extracted with a mixture of ether and petroleum ether(1∶1,v/v).The extract was saponified with 2%sodium hydroxide-methanol solution, methylated with a 15%boron trifluoride-methanol solution, and extracted by heptane for GC determination.37 fatty acids had good linear relationships in their respective mass concentration range(R2>0.995).The detection limit of the method was 0.002~0.006 g/100 g,and the quantification limit of the method was 0.01~0.03 g/100 g.The average spiked recovery rate of quality control samples was 83.3%~108.5%,with a relative standard deviation of 0.9%~5.6%(n=6).This method is easy to operate, accurate and reliable.By applying this method to measure 16 batches of formula sheep milk powder purchased in the market,it was found that there were differences in the composition and content of fatty acids in formula sheep milk powder.
