Preliminary Study on the Teaching Reform of"Animal and Plant Quarantine"Course Based on OBE Concept in the Context of New Engineering Disciplines
"Animal and Plant Quarantine"is an important self-developed education course for the major in Food Quality and Safety. It is also a course that integrates policy, technology, application, and practice. With the rise of educational reform under the background of the New Engineering and Technical Disciplines, the academic community's demand for cultivating students'innovation and practical abilities is becoming increasingly urgent. This study takes the course"Animal and Plant Quarantine"as an example to explore the preliminary practice of teaching reforms based on the Outcome-Based Education(OBE)concept in the context of the New Engineering and Technical Disciplines.By adjusting course objectives, redesigning course content, and introducing teamwork teaching methods, the aim is to cultivate students'practical abilities and comprehensive qualities. The preliminary evaluation of the study indicates that OBE-based concept teaching reform has achieved positive effects in enhancing students'practical abilities and teamwork skills. However, teaching reforms still face some challenges, such as adjusting the role of teachers and cultivating students'self-directed learning abilities. Therefore, future research should further improve teaching methods and evaluation approaches, promote interdisciplinary cooperation, and advance educational innovation and disciplinary development.
