Effects of Aerobic Exercise Combined with Metformin on Insulin Resistance in Type 2 Diabetic Rats and Its Effect on Serum Visfatin
Objective:The aim of this study was to observe the effects of 6 weeks aerobic exercise, metformin and their combined intervention on insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)rats and the effect of serum Visfatin,so as to provide experimental evidence for the effect of aerobic exercise combined with metformin in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Methods:A total of 50 8-week-old SD male healthy rats were selected, and 10 rats were randomly selected as the normal control group(Group C).The remaining 40 rats were modeled as T2DM animal model.Rats after successful modeling were randomly divided into diabetic control group(DM),diabetic exercise group(DME),diabetic drug group(DMM),diabetic drug+exercise group(DMME)for 6 weeks'intervention. After 6 weeks, the contents of TG,TC,FBG,FINS and Visfatin were measured.Results:(1)Compared with group C,the levels of TC and TG in DM group increased significantly(P<0.01);Compared with DM group,TC levels in DME group,DMM group and DMME group decreased significantly(P<0.05);Compared with DM group,TG content in DME group,DMM group and DMME group decreased, and there was a very significant difference in DMM group(P<0.01).(2)Compared with group C,HOMA-IR in DM group was significantly higher(P<0.05);Compared with DM group, the HOMA-IR indexes of DME group,DMM group and DMEM group showed a downward trend.Among them,DME group and DMEM group decreased significantly(P<0.05).(3)Compared with group C,the expression of Visfatin in DM group was significantly higher(P<0.01);Compared with DM group, the Visfatin levels in DME group,DMM group and DMEM group showed a downward trend, especially in DMEM group, but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusions:(1)Aerobic exercise, metformin and their combination can correct the disorder of glucose and lipid metabolism and improve insulin resistance in T2DM rats to a certain extent.(2)The effect of combined intervention of aerobic exercise and metformin is better than that of single intervention.
