The Relationship Between Mobile Phone Addiction and Sleep Procrastination in College Students:a Moderated Mediation Model
Objective:To investigate the mediating role of rumination in mobile phone addiction and sleep procrastination among college students,as well as the moderating effect of gender.Methods:A survey of 527 college students was conducted using the Mobile Phone Addiction Index Scale,Rumination Thinking Scale and Sleep Procrastination Scale.Results:(1)There was a positive correlation between mobile phone addiction,rumination thinking and sleep procrastination,and(2)rumination played a partial mediating role between mobile phone addiction and sleep procrastination,and the Bootstrap method tested a signifiicant mediating effect,accounting for 19%of the total effect.(3)Gender modulates the first and second half paths of the mediation model.Therefore,compared with male college students,the positive predictive effect of mobile phone addiction affecting sleep delay through rumination thinking was more significant in female college students.Conclusion:Rumination plays a mediating role in the relationship between mobile phone addiction and sleep delay among college students,and gender plays a moderating effect in between.
