Progress of Research on Ancient Chinese Wrestling in the Last 40 Years
Ancient Chinese wrestling occupies an important position in the history of traditional Chinese sports and is a branch of China's excellent traditional culture.Its development context and the inheritance and protection of its culture have always attracted the attention of scholars.A review and combing of the relevant literature over the last 40 years revealed that:(1)Ancient Chinese wrestling has a long history and many names,and scholars have diversified the interpretation of concepts from different research perspectives,which needs to be further sorted out and verified;(2)The functions of ancient Chinese wrestling mainly include physical fitness,military training,ceremonial function,political function and entertainment function,but there are fewer research results on social regulation and education;(3)The research on ancient Chinese wrestling rules,organization and participation are mainly focused on the Tang and Song dynasties,but there is no research on the evolution of wrestling rules.(3)studies on ancient Chinese wrestling rules,organization and participation were mainly focused on the Tang and Song dynasties,but no research on the evolution of wrestling rules was conducted;(4)the exploration of the evolution and development of ancient Chinese wrestling techniques remained on superficial descriptions and did not return to the specific historical context to interpret the development path of ancient Chinese wrestling techniques and folk communication,and ignored the influence of traditional Confucianism.Implications for future research:From a diverse sociological and ethnological perspective,dig deep into various social patterns in the development of ancient Chinese wrestling;focus on the weak aspects of ancient Chinese wrestling research;combine unearthed cultural relics with the latest Archaeological discoveries,combined with the historical background of the dynasty and traditional Confucianism,to interpret the form of sports in a specific historical stage.
