War Narrative in Translation Criticism(1949-1966):Textual Characteristics and Cultural Interpretation
Translation criticism is an activity to describe,analyze,evaluate and study translation by the criticism subject.The particular historical context breeds and shapes the features of translation criticism during the seventeen years of 1949-1966.Of all the features,war narrative is a typical one.It is characterized with the overt usage of war terms and the covert expression of war mentality.This research finds that such elements as cultural memory of wars in history,the practice and exemplification of mainstream criticism,the translation and creation of"red classics"and the real wars constitute the historical and practical causes of war narrative in translation criticism.This study is helpful for us to better understand and explain the social function and essence of translation criticism in a particular historical context.
