On Milosz's Reception and Revision of Eliot's"Style of The Waste Land"
The year 2022 marks the centenary of the publication of T.S.Eliot's The Waste Land,which has exerted a great influence on western and global poetry and its studies.Czeslaw Milosz,an important poet of the 20th century,was early influenced by Eliot's poetic style through his translation of the Waste Land.And the influence is embodied in the poetic image,creation technique and poetic concept of his poetry collection Rescue published after the World War Ⅱ.However,Milosz did not imitate Eliot completely.Instead,he resisted the"anxiety of influence"from Eliot with his talent and creativity,corrected and overcame some unreasonable factors in Eliot's modernist poetry,and gradually shaped his own unique style of poetry.
