A Study of Overseas Reception of the English Versions of Classical Chinese Poetry:A Case Study of the Complete English Versions of Shijing
Classical Chinese poetry is valuable gems in the treasury of classical Chinese literature.Its translation into English and overseas reception hold significant implications for the"going out"of Chinese culture.The translator's poetic concepts(fundamental element),the patronage system(crucial element),and the adaptation of the translation to audience demands(decisive element)are the three core factors for the successful introduction of translations.Furthermore,the study provides recommendations for the re-edition of existing translations and the translation of future versions of Chinese classical poetry,focusing on international collaborative translation,establishing a patronage system,and meeting the reading expectations of overseas readers.
