Objective To observe the efficacy of transurethral vapo-resection of prostate ( TUVP) in treatins benign prostatic hyperplasia( BPH). Methods 32 cases with BPH were treated by open surgery, 33 cases by TUVP, observed in operative time, blood loss, hospital stay and complications. Results In TUVP group, the operation time was (78.44 ± 17. 35)min, the intraoperative bleeding was ( 123. 84 ± 27. 65 ) ml, hospital stays was (7. 39 ± 1. 26) d, postoperative IPSS score was (6. 62 ± 0. 85 ). The difference of the intraoperative bleeding and hospital stays was statistically significant (P < 0. 05 ) ; then there was no significant differences in the operation time and postoperative IPSS score (P > 0. 05 ). TUVP group complication rate was significantly lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0. 05 ). Conclusion TUVP is an effective method to treat BPH.
