Objective To investigate current status of anticipatory grief(AG)in family caregivers of patients with chronic heart failure and explore its correlation with the fear of progression(FoP).Methods The cross-sectional study used general infor-mation questionnaire,anticipatory grief scale,and fear of progression questionnaire short form to survey family caregivers of 148 chronic heart failure patients hospitalized in our hospital from J uly to December 2023.Results The AG score of family caregivers of patients with chronic heart failure was(74.66±8.91),which was at the medium-high level,and the score of FoP was(36.49±5.70),pearson correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation between AG and FoP(r=0.651,P＜0.001).Results of multiple linear regression showed that gender,relationship with patients,per capita monthly income of family,and FoP were the influencing factors of AG in family caregivers of patients with chronic heart failure.Conclusion Family caregivers of patients with chronic heart failure would have higher AG and FoP.The higher FoP,the greater AG.Healthcare professionals should strengthen their attention to negative psychology of family caregivers of patients with chronic heart failure,identify high-risk groups at an early stage,understand the reasons for their fear and sadness,and provide targeted psychological guidance to improve psychological resili-ence,reduce the expected sadness of caregivers,and promote their physical and mental health.
