Application of Self-Made Pressure Injury Resistant Heel Socks in Orthopedic Iower Limb Injuries
Objective:To explore the application of self-made pressure injury resistant heel socks in orthopedic lower limb injuries.Methods:140 patients with lower limb injuries admitted to the orthopedic department of our hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into an observation group and a control group using a lottery method, with 70 patients in each group. The control group patients received routine care, while the observation group added self-made anti pressure injury heel socks to the control group. The visual analog scale(VAS)and inpatient pressure ulcer risk assessment form(Braden)were used to evaluate the pain and local skin damage before and after nursing of the two groups respectively. The comfort of the heels, incidence of pressure injury during hospitalization, and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results:After nursing,VAS scores of the two groups were lower than before nursing, while Braden scores were higher than before nursing,VAS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and Braden scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistical significance between the two groups(P<0.05).The number of patients with no discomfort and mild discomfort in the observation group was significantly more than that in the control group, and the number of patients with moderate discomfort and severe discomfort was significantly less than that in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The incidence of stage 1,stage 2,stage 3 and total stress injury in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The nursing satisfaction of patients in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group, and the difference between groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Adding self-made pressure resistant heel socks to routine care for patients with lower limb injuries in orthopedics can reduce patient pain levels, improve skin damage, enhance heel comfort, reduce the incidence of pressure related injuries during hospitalization, and increase nursing satisfaction.
