Harmful and costly landslide and other bad engineering geology are important factors to be con-sidered in the route selection of mountain roads.Combining with a highway project in Tibet,this paper takes the high and steep slope of highway pile No.K17+400～K17+700 as the research object,by using the re-sults of field mapping and engineering geological drilling,analyzing and evaluating the sliding mechanism of the slope,and combined with the physical and mechanical parameters of the slope,analyzing and calculating quantitatively the stability of the slope under different working conditions such as normal,saturated water and saturated water superposition earthquake,and reasonable suggestions,which were put forward according to the analysis and calculation results.
