Retrospect and Prospect of the Research on the Chinese Path to Modernization in Recent Years
The report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC)has introduced and elaborated on the theory of the Chinese path to modernization,which has attracted extensive attention and in-depth research from scholars both in China and abroad.Previous research has primarily focused on the following five aspects.First,to clarify the core concepts,studies have discussed and summarized the basic issues and specific contents of the Chinese path to modernization.Second,the current study has focused on explaining the scientificity and rationality of the Chinese path to modernization from the theoretical standpoint based on Marxist historical materialism.Third,the Chinese path to modernization unfolds in the broader context of global modernization and it has evolved throughout China's modern and contemporary history.Consequently,previous research has examined the historical process of the Chinese path to modernization from a macro-historical perspective,including macro-level discussions of its historical process,focused examinations of modernization practices in specific historical periods,and analyses of modernization construction ideas of particular historical figures.Fourth,research has analyzed the advancing path and future development of the Chinese path to modernization from a pragmatic dimension.Finally,studies have grasped the common characteristics and Chinese specificities of the Chinese path to modernization from a comparative perspective between China and other countries,elucidating its remarkable advantages and global significance.Existing research has increasingly moved towards refinement based on macro-level analyses,with a notable increase in problem-oriented academic approaches,preliminarily constructing a research genealogy of Chinese modernization.To promote further in-depth research,the academic community should enhance the academic rationality of theoretical interpretation and take the initiative in academic dialogue.This requires a shift in research paradigms,focusing more on academic rationality construction while maintaining the importance of policy propaganda,thus providing a more solid academic foundation for theoretical interpretation.Additionally,it is crucial to combine macro-historical analysis with micro-specific examinations and strengthen the study of the ideological history of the Chinese path to modernization.Moreover,empirical research on the Chinese path to modernization issues should be enhanced to address practical problems arising from China's modernization process.Furthermore,it is important to strengthen dialogue with Western scholars on modernization research and expand the international perspective of the Chinese path to modernization studies.Facing the future of the Chinese path to modernization,the theoretical community needs to deepen the academic research of the Chinese path to modernization with a high degree of theoretical consciousness and confidence.This will provide historical resources and theoretical wisdom for comprehensively advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization.
