Currently,illegal fundraising pyramid schemes have become the predominant form of organizing and leading pyramid scheme crimes.The overlap between this crime and offenses such as illegal acceptance of public deposits and fundraising fraud continues to intensify.Existing judicial interpretations,treating these as imaginative joiner of offense,fail to resolve legal disputes and practical challenges faced by judicial authori-ties.This issue arises from the multiple forms of pyramid scheme activities,shifting the focus of protected legal interests.There is a need to clarify the essence of pyramid scheme crimes and precisely target key legal inter-ests.Legislative amendments are necessary to address the concurrence of related offenses and achieve genuine balance between crime and punishment.
