Study on seismic responses of large steel truss aqueduct structure
This paper is focused on the seismic responses of an isolated large steel truss aqueduct structure under non-uniform seismic excitations.A finite element model of the aqueduct structure was established in ABAQUS based on the practical engineering, and the input method of non-uniform excitations and the simplified model of Friction Pendulum Bearing(FPB)were proposed. Moreover, the FPB model was illustrated to be accurate by experiments. Then the results were compared between numerical simulations under uniform and non-uniform excitations, with and without FPBs.The comparisons demonstrated that trusses directly above the mid-piers were the most vulnerable components;non-uniform excitations would significantly increased the dynamic responses of the aqueduct structure, especially at the hemilateral span;the FPBs installed at the top of mid-piers had a rather effective isolation effect, enhancing seismic safety of both trusses and piers.
