Prediction and analysis of outer sea wave height in Kampong Som Bay,Cambodia
The calculation of deep water wave height is an important factor influencing the site selection of construction projects. The waves in Kampong Som Bay,Cambodia, exhibit obvious characteristics of monsoon period and are affected by typhoon waves to a certain extent. As an important hub of the Maritime Silk Road along the Belt and Road, there are few existing research results.Based on typhoon data from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center of Guam(JTWC)and the reanalysis data from the European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasts(ECMWF)spanning 30 consecutive years, the typhoon wave height was calculated with the verification of the measured data.Combined with the reanalysis data of ECMWF,the maximum annual wave height of the main wave in the incidence direction from 1990 to 2019 was obtained. Finally, the wave elements of different recurrence periods were calculated by P-Ⅲ curve. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent constructions of ports, power plants and island bridges in Kampong Som Bay,and have reference significance for the project planning, establishment, and implementation with in the bay.
