Impact of land reclamation on ride prism of Jiulong River Estuary
The tide prism, defined as the volume of water accommodated by an esutary during tidal fluctuations, plays a pivotal role in sustaining the ecological health of estuary and adjacent bay.In this paper, the natural conditions of the Jiulong River estuary in Xiamen were analyzed, where the land reclamation project is located.Subsequently,a comprehensive approach was employed, integrating traditional calculation methods, statistical analysis of measured hydrological data, and a two-dimensional tidal current mathematical model,to statistically estimate the tide prism under current conditions in the Jiulong River Estuary.Furthermore, numerical simulation techniques were used to simulate the changes in water flow characteristics, tidal level variations, and tidal prism after the completion of the land reclamation project in the Haicang Port area of Xiamen.A new method combining traditional calculations with numerical simulations was also used to conduct a rationality analysis of these changes. The results show that the reclamation, spanning an area of 2.95 km2,leads to a 4.3%decrease in the tide prism.
