Kluyveromyces marxianus was used to ferment sugar beet to produce yeast cell and ethanol for bioenergy development. From a series of single factor tests and partial factorial experiment the fermentation conditions were preliminarily determined. The results showed that Kluyveromyces marxianus strain itself has cellulase and ligninase activity. When adding 0.1%cellulase,5 g/L ammonia urea, under the conditions of SSF and fed-batch culture, shaker speed 210.7 r·min-1,CaCO3 addition 5 g/L,and high cell density situation, the amount of yeast biomass and ethanol yield can reach a balanced higher value.
