Study on the Antibacterial Activity of the Extract of Melicope pteleifolia
Objective:To evaluate the anti-bacterial activity of the extract of Melicope pteleifolia.Method:The 95%ethanol was used as the solvent, and the extracts of Melicope pteleifolia were prepared by ultrasonic extraction and reflux extraction, respectively. The difference of antibacterial activity of two extracts against Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Bacillus subtilis and Salmonella was analyzed by filter paper diffusion method, and the extraction method with better antibacterial activity was selected. The extracts were further fractionated with petroleum ether, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and n-butanol,and the extracts with different polarity are obtained. Then the filter paper diffusion method was used to compare the antibacterial activities of these extracts against four kinds of bacteria, and determine the antibacterial active components of the medicinal plant, providing a reference for further research on the antibacterial active components of the tree.Result:The antibacterial activity of the samples obtained by reflux extraction was better than that by ultrasonic extraction; The petroleum ether and dichloromethane extracts showed good antibacterial activity, while the ethyl acetate part had poor antibacterial activity, and the n-butanol part had no antibacterial activity. Conclusion:The extract of Sanyaku possess antibacterial activity, and its dichloromethane extract is the active component with strong antibacterial effect.
