Ethanol Fractional Precipitation and Antioxidant Activities of Polysaccharides from Hemerocallis citrina Baroni
Hemerocallis citrina Baroni(daylily)is a traditional plant in China. Its unflowering buds are edible and have rich nutritional value. However, the deep processing of daylily is virtually insufficient, with poor economic benefits.A simple and industrial method was employed in this paper to obtain polysaccharide from daylily;Subsequently they precipitated by ethanol at concentrations of 20%,40%,60%,and 80%(DLP-20,DLP-40,DLP-60,DLP-80).And the physicochemical properties, monosaccharide composition and antioxidant properties of the four daylily polysaccharides were measured.According to the results, the sugar content of the four polysaccharides varied slightly, and with the increase of precipitated ethanol concentration, the sugar content increased. The protein content was all minor,so no deprotein process was needed. The UV-Vis and FTIR spectrum showed they all have typical polysaccharide characteristic peaks. The four polysaccharides composed of ten monosaccharides, with the following order from high to low:glucose, galactose, mannose, arabinose, galacturonic acid, glucuronic acid, rhamnose, xylose, ribose, fucose. The content of neutral sugar was high and the content of uronic acid was low.The antioxidant capacity showed that all four polysaccharides had antioxidant activity.DLP-20 had the strongest scavenging rate of DPPH and hydroxyl radical, but the antioxidant activity of polysaccharide decreased with the increase of alcohol precipitant concentration.
