Typical Corrosion Problems and Prevention Analysis During the Opening Inspection of Raw Material Oil Storage Tanks
The atmospheric storage tank for raw oil is an important material storage equipment in large petrochemical plants, and the structural health and integrity of the storage tank are closely related to the stable operation of the entire plant.Regular inspection and testing of large atmospheric storage tanks is beneficial for ensuring their intrinsic safety. With the long-term use of large atmospheric storage tanks, corrosion is a major hidden danger that causes leaks in atmospheric storage tanks.Taking a 5 000 m3 raw material oil atmospheric storage tank in the Pearl River Delta region as a research case, serious corrosion defects were found in the bottom plate during the comprehensive inspection process. The causes of bottom plate corrosion were analyzed, and prevention suggestions were proposed, providing reference cases for similar engineering applications in China.
