Determination of Boron Content in Zirconium Boride by Potentiometric Titration Method
Zirconium boride is an important fuel for the third-generation nuclear reactor, and its boron content has an significant effect on the properties of the material. At present, the standard analysis method has not been established for the determination of boron content in zirconium boride. In this paper,a new method for the determination of boron content in zirconium boride by potentiometric titration method is established. The dissolution method, titration modes pH value and mannitol dosage are investigated. And the accuracy and precision of the potentiometric titration method were verified. The optimized experimental conditions were as follows:the sample pre-treatment method was 3 g sodium hydroxide was melted at 750℃for 20 min,2 g mannitol was added subsequently,SET(pH value)+DET titration method was chose. The recoveries are 99.7%~100.2%,and the relative standard deviation is better than that of inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry tests. This method has good accuracy, repetition rate, simple and fast operation characteristics, which is suitable for the determination of boron content in zirconium boride.
