Preparation of Thermal Modified Coal Gangue with Different Particle Sizes and Its Optimum Adsorption Properties for Methyl Orange
In this study, the thermal modified coal gangue with different particle size was used as raw material to prepare the best methyl orange adsorption effect. It is found that 0.075 mm(200 mesh)coal gangue calcined at 650℃ for 2 h has the best methyl orange adsorption performance.SEM and XRD show that in the calcination process, organic matter and part of carbon in the coal gangue volatilize and dehydroxylation reaction occurs inside the particles, becoming loose and porous, the macro layered structure of coal gangue is destroyed, lattice defects increase, and it is transformed into active metakaolinite, and the activated adsorption site increases. The optimal conditions for the adsorption of methyl orange by the thermal modified coal gangue are as follows:the adsorption temperature is 25℃,the adsorption time is 1.5 h,the addition amount of hot coal gangue is 0.2 g,and the initial mass concentration of methyl orange is 25 mg·L-1.
