The Synthesis and Performance of Fluorine Monomer-modified Acrylic Resin
The modification of acrylic resin was carried out using various organic fluorine monomers.Through investigation of such as polymerization process, types, and amounts of modifying monomers, perfluoroethyl hexyl acrylate was selected as the modifying monomer to synthesize organofluorine-modified acrylic resin with high contact angle and low surface energy. The infrared spectroscopy, molecular weight distribution, and glass transition temperature measurements that confirming the involvement of fluorinated monomers in the copolymerization with acrylic monomers. The influence of factors on the surface properties of fluorinated acrylic ester copolymer coatings was studied. The results indicate that perfluoroethyl hexyl acrylate with 17 fluorine atoms significantly improves the modification effect on acrylic resin. When the amount of perfluoroethyl hexyl acrylate accounts for 6%~8% of the total monomers, the surface tension, hydrophobicity(water contact angle and water absorption),and weather resistance of the coating film are significantly improved, and the water contact angle can reach approximately 105°.
