Research Progress on Treatment of Nitrate Pollution in Farmland Groundwater by Electrocatalytic Reduction
Agricultural intensification leads to a linear increase in the application of nitrogen fertilizer, which causes the problem of nitrate pollution in farmland groundwater.Electrocatalytic reduction process,as the simplest and most effective reduction method in electrochemical wastewater treatment technology, has a good removal effect on nitrate pollutants in farmland groundwater. However, due to the limitation of system efficiency, the electrocatalytic reduction process still has some problems, such as high energy consumption and unclear reduction mechanism. In this paper, the research progress of heterojunction cathodes used in electrocatalytic reduction system to treat nitrate pollutants in water is briefly reviewed. The preparation methods of heterojunction cathodes and their roles in the electrocatalytic reduction process are analyzed. At the same time, the research results in recent years, structural characteristics, properties, and the role of heterojunction cathode were evaluated and summarized, which provided a reference for the electrochemical treatment of nitrate pollution in farmland groundwater.
