Construction of Green Chemistry Case Library-Taking the Preparation of Biobased p-Xylene as an Example
To strengthen the cooperation between universities and companies in industry, academia, and research, based on the current situation of green chemistry course construction, timely update and improve teaching content, and build knowledge point cases for biomass resource development and utilization. The direct synthesis of bio based para xylene from renewable resources has important scientific significance and potential application value in promoting the efficient utilization of renewable biomass resources and the development of high-value bio based chemicals. This work aims to demonstrate that p-xylene(an important high-value added chemical in the petrochemical industry)can be selectively synthesized from bio based derivatives. This new controllable conversion process is achieved through the selective catalytic pyrolysis of methylfuran to prepare p-xylene.Under optimized reaction temperature, the selectivity for xylene is highest(PX/X=94.5%)and the yield is highest(18.4%).Meanwhile,a possible reaction route for the controllable catalytic conversion of bio based derivatives to bio based para xylene was proposed.
