Study on Properties of Silica-Modified Polypropylene Composites
Hollow silicon dioxide(Si02)is a special new inorganic compound, due to its internal crystal structure, with one or more cavities,in addition to a wide source, low density, high specific surface area and excellent adsorption effect, which determines that it can be used to fill modified polymer materials.Modified polypropylene(PP)was filled with SiO2 by a simple melt blending method, and modified polypropylene was added as a compatibler. The effects of SiO2 content on the tensile strength, impact strength and melt flow rate of PP composites were studied. The results show that the addition of modified polypropylene can play a good compatibility, and appropriate SiO2 can improve the tensile strength, elongation at break and melt flow rate of polypropylene composite, but the addition of excessive will reduce the mechanical properties of polypropylene composite and melt flow rate. The selection of inorganic materials to modify polymers has become a trend,I believe that in the future, there will be more new composite materials born.
