The Application of Rheological Technology in the Research of Waterproof Materials
As a testing technique for studying the fluidity and viscoelasticity of materials, applying rheology to polymer materials can measure the viscosity of materials, changes in viscosity under dynamic shear(shear thinning or thickening),and changes in viscosity with temperature and frequency. Therefore,in the development of various polymer materials, the type and proportion of formulas are often adjusted through rheological test results to improve product quality. This article summarizes the application examples of rheometers in the development process of waterproof membranes, polyurethane, asphalt, inorganic concrete, and polymer cement-based coatings. The focus is on discussing how to use rheometers to measure coating gelation time, characterize viscosity, storage modulus, loss modulus, and conduct microstructure analysis to evaluate material properties and quality.By studying the rheological behavior of several typical waterproof materials, the application of rheometers in this type of material research has been expanded, laying the foundation for its broader application prospects.
