Study on Phenol Degradation Properties of Pseudomonas veronii Yu-5 at Low Temperature
This paper aims to solve the problem of biological treatment of phenol containing wastewater in winter by screening and studying low temperature phenol degrading bacteria.Because the biological treatment of sewage at low temperature in winter will greatly reduce the activity of microorganisms, the rate of phenol degradation by biological method at low temperature will greatly decrease. In this study,a strain with low-temperature phenol degradation function was screened from the winter sludge of a sewage plant in Northern China.Through 16S rDNA gene sequencing, the strain was identified as Pseudomonas veronii Yu-5.The strain can grow and reproduce at 12 ℃ and has low temperature resistance.Phenol degradation and growth characteristics of strain Yu-5 were studied at low temperature with phenol as the only carbon source. The strain can completely degrade 200 mg/L phenol at 12 ℃,and has a wide range of pH adaptability, and can use a variety of additional carbon sources, which has application value in treating phenol containing wastewater at low temperature.
