Study on Alkali Recovery of Waste Alkali Liquor from Agar Production by Diffusion Dialysis
Agar production enterprises produce a large amount of waste alkali liquor, which has the characteristics of high sodium hydroxide content and high organics content. The diffusion dialysis method was used to recover alkali from the waste alkali liquor generated during agar production, and the influence of some factors, such as the diffusion time, feed flow rate, ratio of water to feed flow, and feed temperature on the alkali recovery, were investigated. The results show that the alkali recovery efficiency decreases gradually with the increase of feed flow rate, increases with the increase of ratio of water to feed flow, and feed temperature. When the concentration of alkali in feed solution is 1.5 mol/L,the feed flow rate is 1.0 L/(m2·h),the ratio of water to feed flow is 1.2,the temperature of feed solution is 65 ℃,and the diffusion time is 1.5 h,the recovery efficiencey of alkali of 74.25%and alkali concentration of 1.12 mol/L could be obtained. It showed that diffusion dialysis was a very effective method for the separation of alkali and organic matter, and the recovered alkali solution can be reused for agar production.
