Natural organic matter(NOM)in water is a typical precursor of disinfection byproducts,posing potential hazards to human drinking water health.This article summarizes and analyzes the commonly used analytical methods for NOM in water(UV-visible spectroscopy,gel permeation chromatography,infrared spectroscopy,and three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy)as well as removal technologies.
